The Maranoa Health Enhancement Program aims to enhance primary health care services in the five shires of the Maranoa District of South West Queensland - Balonne, Bendemere, Booringa, Bungil and Warroo.
The program will work in with local councils, health services, neighbourhood centres and other agencies and community groups to:
- Broker additional health professional services, initially in child health, mental health and allied health as required
- Provide information about existing health related services
- Improve access to services
- Improve transport services
- Develop local groups and networks
- Conduct health promotion activities
- Fund local community health promoting projects and activities
Our team of staff consists of:
- Community Access workers, located in each shire to work with their community to deliver health information, projects and activities. This includes an Indigenous Community Access Worker to work with the Indigenous communities within the Balonne Shire
- Two part time Co-ordinators, of the Community Access Workers to guide the local workers and provide health expertise and information
- Health professionals in child health, mental health and allied health
- Program Manager and Administrative Assistant to administer the program
